Clayton Cummins is an Associate Attorney in the firm’s Springfield, Illinois office. Clayton brings a strong foundation in legal research, writing, and courtroom preparation to his practice. He is committed to providing thoughtful guidance, clear communication, and careful attention to detail as he helps clients navigate important legal matters.
Clayton earned his Juris Doctor from Southern Illinois University Simmons Law School. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a pre-medical concentration from the University of Illinois Springfield. During law school, he received multiple academic scholarships recognizing his achievements.
Before joining the firm, Clayton served as a Staff Attorney with the Illinois Legislative Reference Bureau, where he drafted and edited legislative amendments, interpreted statutes, and worked closely with legislators, lobbyists, and government staff. He also completed an internship with the Sangamon County State’s Attorney’s Office, where he assisted with trial preparation, drafted legal materials, conducted legal research, and gained firsthand courtroom experience.
Earlier in his legal career, Clayton worked as a legal intern assisting with litigation matters involving legal research, discovery, and document drafting. His diverse legal background has strengthened his analytical skills and ability to communicate complex legal concepts in a clear and practical manner.
